Ahhh, just like home – chillin’ out at the quietest, friendliest Starbuck’s in the country after an afternoon on the trail.

Energizing with her secret formula – she won’t even tell ME what’s in it. I THINK it gives her an unfair advantage.

Up up up up. She started to notice a trend after a while.

Donna distanced herself from the lake in no time flat! She wasn’t smiling a while lot at first since sinus pressure was killing her.

Riding along side of Donna during the flatest portion of Thursday’s ride. After the drive to Big Bear Lake we didn’t have time fir a huge ride but we squeezed in 3 hours of pedaling.

Another view from the top – my hottie wife getting ready for some more climbing. I still can’t figure out how the trail went up from the ‘top.’

One hour of climbing out of Big Bear Lake brought us to this ridge. It’s 2,200 feet down to the valley which is awesome. Unfortunately what goes down must come back up – unless you want to spend the night in the forest.

How can you help but not crack a huge smile with scenery and singletrack like this.

It’s just like being back in Bend, Oregon except that most of the trails are doubletrack instead of singletrack. The scenery is great though and the trails are endless. Want to ride 100 miles off-road and climb 15,000 vertical feet in one day? Head out to the big bear lake area.

Im smiling because the trail finally leveled out a bit – the first part was the worst but the views of the lake were awesome.

There ain’t a whole lot of oxygen up here! We really get spoiled living at sea level.

Just starting to drive into the Big Bear Lake area. Windy roads… cooler temps… & a hungry belly! This afternoon’s ride is gonna be awesome!

Dam construction! 135 miles of driving only to hit construction 5 miles outside of town.

Looks like the Santa Ana winds are starting already. Nothing says Fall like warm, dry, strong winds. Woke up to this view today. It’s really gonna put a damper on Donna’s morning road rides.
