• After a week of no cycling, the climb out of Sycamore canyon seemed especially brutal today. It wasn’t Donna’s favorite part of the ride, to say the least.

• I have a ‘thing’ about sticking my bare piggies in the sand… I hate the way it sticks to me. Thanks to all the ventilation in bike shoes, sand still manages to get through and drive me crazy.

• After a week of indulging, it felt great to get back out on the bikes. The 26-mile (roundtrip) route from our house, through Sycamore Canyon and over to the beach was perfect. My left knee felt is was way too far.
