I’ve spent a lot of time looking at iPhone apps that give photos that ‘retro’ look and it just recently occurred to me that I haven’t looked at any ‘serious’ photo apps for a while.
Enter Perfectly Clear, one of the most impressive apps I’ve seen so far. Note, this app is not designed to take a crappy photo and make it look good. It’s really designed to take a good photo (in terms of exposure, color etc) and really fine tune the subtle details to make it look closer to DSLR quality.
With the swipe of a finger, it adds some adjustable, subtle sharpening. It also helps preserve details in the dark side of mid-tones without blowing out the highlights. Essentially, by time it’s done, it makes the ‘before’ photo look as though it was shot through a smoky screen.
I discovered the app while at work today and ran off this test frame while sitting in my car, eating lunch.
