T-MINUS 3 WEEKS TIL THE SEA OTTER CLASSIC
March 30, 2011
We’ve had more rain than usual and which is apparently making these guys very happy. I didn’t bother counting but would be willing to bet we saw close to 100 of them over the course of the ride. Some seemed to have the sense to get out of our way. Others weren’t so intelligent. I think we managed to dodge all except maybe one, which Donna feared she hit. I’m betting it jumped out of the way at the last minute.

As Donna can attest to, this was probably the only time I smiled during Tuesday night’s ride.

We had another great weekend here in SoCal – a trip to the Fillmore Railfest, hiking, biking… oh, and an appointment with a CPA (I didn’t shoot any video of that).

By the time we got back home from the railfest, the skies had cleared, Donna took a nap (I have a photo but I’d be in trouble if I shared it), and we decided to go for an afternoon hike through Sycamore Canyon.

We once again woke the rainy skies Sunday morning and decided to head to the Fillmore Railfest instead of the trails. By the time we got there the rain had stopped and we enjoyed a rather pleasant morning in Fillmore.

A NEW CAMERA

Between our work schedule and the weather, conditions have been less than optimal for Donna’s training for the Sea Otter Classic. It likely won’t be a podium year for her but I’m hoping she as least has a fun day on the race course and enjoys the thrill of crossing a finish line.

We got out early enough that we only had to kick on the lights for the last 10-15 minutes of our ride. The sunset was less than spectacular given the clouds that were moving in but it was beautiful nevertheless.

Got out for a great ride after work. We were worried the trails would be trashed following the weekend storm but it really wasn’t all that bad.

I loved watching the waves crashing into the coastline during our Monday afternoon at the beach – it looks even better in slow motion of course.

Ahhhhh, Southern California. Hard to believe that just yesterday we were worried about two tree crashing into the roof of our townhouse during the storm.

Donna, making a few memories of her own during our Monday afternoon at the beach. I love the way she holds her iPhone when taking pictures – kind’a like she’s afraid she’s gonna break it, even though it’s in a pretty indestructible Otter Box case.

Monday morning we woke up to cloudy skies and a light rain. Considering how wet Sunday was, we opted against a bike ride and went running instead. The day seemed to stay partly cloudy so we took a drive over the Santa Monica mountains and down to the coast. The weather difference was amazing once we hit the top of the mountains and we had a beautiful, warm, sunny afternoon at the beach.

Monday was a spectacular day to watch the waves pound the coastline. The sea didn’t seem all that rough, out in the distance, but the shoreline was something else.

You’ll never guess where we went for lunch after our Monday morning run.
March 22, 2011
Some people have ice cream for dessert. Others have cake or pie. We opted for donuts tonight – we found a nearby place that gives Krispy Kreme a run for their money.

Chillin’ out on a rainy Sunday at home. Lazy days, which are few and far between, are awesome!

Yuck! Mother nature is not happy today, so we decided to do something we haven’t done in ages… go out for breakfast.
March 20, 2011
I think somebody is ready for a weekend. Just one more day to go.
