EASTER, ON THE TRAILS

While most normal people were out at an Easter sun rise service, Donna and I were asleep, recovering from Donna’s typical late night in the office on Saturday night. While most normal people were getting together with family for probably the second-most significant holiday of the year, Donna and I were heading out on the trails.

It really was a struggle at first. Sundays aren’t good days for us because after a week of waking at 6am and going to bed at 10:30-11:00pm, we’re thrown into Donna’s awkward 2pm-midnight shift in the office. Regardless, we pushed onward and decided to just take our time and enjoy it.

After about 45 minutes of riding (mostly uphill) we started to settle into a rhythm and from there it was all good. It started out sunny and warm and by time we were heading home, some dark clouds and cooler temperatures had rolled in. Arriving back at home felt good, the hot shower felt great, and the won-ton soup at lunch was the icing on the cake. We’re whimps, for sure, but it felt cold to me.
