Pedaling home through strawberry fields, coastal roads and somewhat isolated valleys sounds like a great idea, but I had to face the reality during the ride home from work that a 2+ hour ride after a day of work is simply too much for me. Plus, the creek crossings (all six of them) are still too deep to clear without soaking Donna’s feet.

The scenery Tuesday night was amazing as usual but with about 30 minutes of ride time remaining, I was really ready to be home. I kept thinking about food as my stomach growled, wondering why as of 8pm it still hand’t received any food.

So while the idea of biking home from work seemed great, I’ve simply been unable to execute it with any desire to do it again – at least for a while. The trails closer to home are great for mountain biking and there’s nothing wrong with a 1hr 20min ride after work.
