We’re holding off on any offers as of Tuesday morning. There’s just so much to weigh out. The townhouse we liked needs some work (painting & carpeting) but is a bargain at $299,000. What I don’t like is sharing two walls with neighbors. We love the loft and the layout otherwise though.
Wednesday morning we’re looking at a place for which we have high hopes. It’s a townhouse also but there are only two homes per unit. There’s more square footage, it’s much newer and it appears it would need very little, if any, immediate work. Plus, it has central air. The shared wall is in a great place, so it would be near impossible to hear your neighbor – the garages share a wall, so big whoop. Of course all this comes a price – $59,000 to be exact, but it still falls well within our comfort level.
We’ll get a close look on Wednesday and hopefully we’ll know then.
We did find one other place yesterday. It’s a huge home, only five years old, with central air. It’s absolutely primo but it sits out by CSU Channel Islands. There are no conveniences whatsoever – coffee, convenience stores etc. Plus the homes are right on top of each other so there’s no yard whatsoever. The inside is amazing but it’s just too high density for our liking.
Here’s a photo of the high-density housing near CSUCI. You can get a new, beautiful, 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom home for $310,00, if you don’t mind the close quarters with your neighbors. They’re very long, skinny houses (toward the bottom) that run from the sidewalk back to an alley where you can pull into your two-car garage.
