Our New Hampshire Trip

Friday night was a rough night for Donna. Since we flew out so early, we had to drop Buddy at The Barkley Friday afternoon, which meant a Friday night at home without him. The house, I'll admit, did seem kind of empty. Donna spent the bulk of the evening watching Buddy via the webcam in his room at The Barkley.

Without her boy around the house, Donna just didn't know what to do with herself.
Waiting for our flight at LAX – a favorite pastime of ours.
Thanks to United Airlines messing up our reservations, we ended up on a 6am flight instead of a 7:40am flight. Seeing the sunrise from the plane was pretty, but not worth the 2am alarm clock.

So happy when we're together.

This ain't SoCal. As we approached the Manchester NH airport, it was quite evident (given the abundance of green trees) that we were far far away from Southern California.
I'm ashamed to admit we spent an entire week with Buddy's nemesis, a cat!
My nephew Joey, en route to The Flume Gorge.
Karen, my sister-in-law, took us to The Flume Gorge for a 2-mile hike and some breathtaking scenery. It was such a change of pace, to see a landscape like this after being in a dry climate for so long.
Maggie and Joey, the best niece & nephew in the world, standing above the river at the Flume Gorge.

Pausing for a family photo.

We explored a cave with Maggie & Joey. They were both small enough to squeeze through to the other side. I, on the other hand, had to put it in reverse and head back the way I had come in.
A little early for spectacular fall color, but just seeing the leaves and dense forests was a nice change of pace.

Lunch at the Gypsy Cafe
I imagined myself being reunited with Starbucks after a 10-year absence, then started to comprehend Donna's enthusiasm over Dunkin' Donuts.
The tug boats of Portsmouth.
