In lieu of a birthday card this year, I opted for a Birthday Wish for mom via a blog post. You might think I’m being cheap. Actually, I’m just listening to my mom, who has told me not to buy cards because “they’re so expensive and I just don’t need them.”
So mom, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! After roughly 42 years, your son is finally listening to you and honoring your wishes. As is the case every year, I wish there weren’t so many miles between us and that we could celebrate together, but know that Donna and I love you with all our hearts!
If you’re missing us on this special day, take a trip down memory lane to 2010, when we were able to celebrate your birthday as a family in Bar Harbor, Maine. The video is below and you can check out a slew of photos from the trip by clicking here.
Then in 2012 we were able to celebrate your birthday together, but it was kind of a bitter-sweet occasion as it was just days (or a day) before Donna had to go to the hospital for surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer. Your birthday gift that year was a day at the beach (click here) – a Saturday in Santa Barbara (click here) – followed by some time at the hospital (click here).
What were we doing during your birthday in 2009? Remember? You’ll have to click here to find out. Oh, and click here too!
Last but not least, here’s a collection of images from the past few years – just click here.
Donna, Buddy and I miss you very much and hope you have an absolutely wonderful birthday!
