Sunday in the Sespe Wilderness

Just getting to the trailhead on Sunday was an adventure. I’m still amazed that this road is even open to the public – cliff edges, no guardrails… where are we? Central America?

As beautiful as the Sespe Wilderness was, it wasn’t nearly as green as Camarillo and the Santa Monica Mountains. It reminded me of Fruita, Colorado and had me longing for my mountain bike.

If you’ve ever shot holes in a National Forest sign, I don’t think there’s any doubt that you’re a redneck.

The absence of people AND cellular signals made for a great outing, Sunday in the Sespe Wilderness.

Donna, Phi and I were all a bit surprised to see a waterfall (obscured by shadows) along the way.

Our hike into the Sespe Wilderness on Sunday wasn’t short of spectacular horizons.

The ‘road’ was closed 3 miles before reaching the trailhead. That meant hiking 3 miles just to get to the trailhead.
