As COVID-19 restrictions continue, Donna and I have found it increasingly difficult to find empty trails. Some of our favorite spots, where we hardly ever saw anyone before COVID-19, are now booming hubs for folks looking for a little fresh air and exercise.
Today we drove a little further from town — about an hour — to the Rocky Knob area of the Blue Ridge Parkway. We hiked the route once before and didn’t see a soul, but today we found it to be slightly more popular. We were able to keep our distance from other trail users, but I don’t think we’ll return to this particular location until after the pandemic has passed.
