DONNA’S 49TH BIRTHDAY

What a weekend. We took four days to celebrate Donna’s last birthday in her 40’s. With some unseasonably warm weather on tap, Saturday we hit the trails at Carvins Cove in our shorts and short-sleeve shirts. We didn’t set any land-speed records, but it was an incredibly fun, relaxing ride.

Sunday’s weather wasn’t as ideal. We headed to the Rocky Knob area off the Blue Ridge Parkway for a hike. It was a colder than we anticipated and the leaves on the trail were quite deep in spots, making it a bit tricky to navigate some areas.

By time Monday rolled around, we were ready for a rest day. We had planned to go see a movie, go out to eat, spend time with family, etc., but while walking Buddy in the morning it seemed so nice out that we decided to go for a ride on the Huckleberry Trail. By the end of the ride we were really worn out.

After the ride we met mom, dad and Tiff for lunch, then we all came back to the house for gifts, dessert and a movie.

Donna’s actually birthday fell on Tuesday and was probably the most ‘mellow’ day of the long weekend. We took Buddy to Pandapas Pond for his morning walk, then headed to Wasabi’s in Roanoke for some sushi, followed by an unproductive trip to the nearby mall before heading home.
