With Donna out of town, I was left with a Saturday to myself, so I decided to do something that Donna probably wouldn’t enjoy — a dark, 80-minute, early-morning drive down windy roads followed by a dark hike to the Hanging Rock Raptor Observatory. I arrived just in time for dawn.

After taking in the sunrise, it was off to Wind Rock and Bald Knob. By the end of the day I was wiped out and ready for an early dinner with my parents and sister.
