As we faced the forecast of yet another soaker of a weekend, we saw what appeared to be a break in the rain and headed to Claytor Lake for a hike. At first, it was beautiful. A layer of fog hovered just above the lake and the wind swept clouds across the sky. All was going well until the skies became a bit more threatening. We came across a trail junction where we could cut the hike short and get back to the car. But being the weirdos that we are, we opted to continue on. Not long after that, we got caught in a torrential downpour.
