We had planned to take a family trip to North Carolina and I think we had a pretty ideal few days mapped out. Mother Nature had other plans, and unleashed Hurricane Helene on the area we planned to visit. Switching gears quickly, we made it to Smith Mountain Lake, Shenandoah National Park, New River Gorge National Park (for our 20th wedding anniversary) and an assortment of other local destinations.
