The edit is a bit rough but the video pretty much sums up today’s mtn bike ride. It was long, exhausting and sooo much fun.

We explored a new route today – a big one. The hills in the one section were the steepest I’ve seen in a while. Steep like crazy steep. Steep, as in don’t lose traction on the way up or you’ll slide the whole way back down to the bottom. Well, ok, maybe not THAT steep, but you get the idea… so did Donna.

We had an awesome ride today. Only once in the 4.5-hour ride did we sit to take a break, and even then it was only for a few minutes.

Donna took a bit of a spill during her Wednesday morning mountain bike ride. Ouch! The wreck bent her front rim which she gave the local bike one day to repair so she didn’t miss out on any riding.

Beyond bustin’ up her elbow, Donna ended up with a smattering of other cuts, scrapes & bruises from her close encounter with mother earth.

The highlight of a typical Friday night for me. The highlight of a typical Friday night for Donna. YES, I’m kidding! (I hate cooking)

It’s not exactly a view of prestine mountain tops but considering I can ride to the trails from home, I’m not gonna gripe that the views primarily involve subdivisions and strip malls.

There’s something about that beautiful golden light late in the day. Tonight’s post-work ride with Bruce felt great!

I wrapped up work early enough to beat darkness to the singletrack. Riding after work with an hour of daylight was awesome and Bruce managed to get his first naturally illuminated look at the trails above Newbury Park.

Wrapping another 11-hour day with a decaf latte at… where else. I love ‘lazy’ nights like these when I feel like I’ve earned it so tonight it’s coffee then home for Donna’s awesome cooking and an evening on the sofa.

Despite yesterday’s 5-hour mtn bike ride, I agreed to a 50-mile hilly road ride with Donna. Her fitness level is surpassing mine! Fun ride though.

Donna has a way of smiling even when we’re in the middle of putting our legs through some serious discomfort.

Donna, nearing the top of our first 40-minute climb of today’s ride.

We’re soaking up the scenery right now cuz in a few months the vegetation will turn from green to brown.

Just another snapshot from today’s ride. Imagine that… photos instead of video. Really, I tried shooting video but Donna’s pace is so fast now, I hardly have a chance to shoot any video unless she agrees to slow down for it – today was NOT one of those days.

The beach once again served as a perfect backdrop for a picnic – bagels with PB & honey plus some nice salty cashews washed down with some Cytomax.

Donna is sooo ready for her race in the Sea Otter Classic! She totally schooled me today in terms of endurance. She rocks at maintaining a pace perfect for the distance she has to ride.
March 15, 2010
We rode for about five hours today. I bonked at 4.5 hours, leaving Donna to totally carry me through the last 30 minutes.

The iPad went on sale today and I’d like to offer my review/test services to anyone who want to buy one for me! I’m anticipating a huge response so be sure to respond quickly!

We had an AWESOME ride on Sunday… rolling right out of our garage and onto the nearby trails. I love our new home!
