I took the back roads home from work tonight. I’m still not well enough to exercise, I’m pretty worn out from work, and the thought of going home to an empty house isn’t so comforting. What little daylight I had left was mostly consumed sitting at a railroad crossing, which the train politely crossed at about 3 mph due to an apparent crossing signal malfunction. By time I was clear of the train, there wasn’t much point in driving to the coast. No doubt the shorter days are already wearing on me and I spend most of my evenings praying that Donna will soon be working the same shift as me. Once I kick this sinus infection things might be a little better just because I’ll at least be able to go riding in the evenings, but even then, they’ll be full-blown night rides thanks to the diminishing daylight of each day.
