251 POUNDS, AND COUNTING

I’ve been feeling like a bloated tick, the result of a week of vacation followed by two weeks of illness. The first kept me from eating anywhere close to healthy and the second has kept me from doing any sort of exercise.

The lowest number I can recall ever seeing on a scale (that I was standing on) is 225lbs, but that’s when I was living in Oregon and logging around 200 off-road miles on the mtn bike every week. I’d also add that I’ve aged four years since then.

Following the move to SoCal, I jumped up to 272lbs as I found the food to be so wonderful, the work hours extensive and the mtn biking trails, lousy.

Then Donna and I decided it was time to get our health back on track. The exercise increased and the food decreased. Worked like a charm. I managed to lose 42lbs, dropping down to 230lbs. I was extremely happy.

Then I crawled up to 239/240lbs. Given the hours at work and a number if other factors, I decided to be content with 240. Then came vacation and the two-week illness.

So I got back on the scale today and pow! 251 pounds!

I’ve decided that 230 is the number I want to see on that scale which means I’ve got 21 pounds to lose, and blogging about this sort of stuff keeps me honest.

Yesterday was my first day back on the weight watchers points system and needless to say, I went to bed hungry. The day consisted of oatmeal & a fake, half bagel with low-fat peanut butter for breakfast, chicken noodle soup and a French baguette for lunch, a chicken casserole (sp?) for dinner, salad, a handful of pretzels along with a skinny cow ice-cream bar.

The road to recovery might be a long one but I’m determined.
