Well as you can see we stayed pretty neutral with the interior colors of our new home. I just met with the painter and finalized all the details.
Since we’re having it professionally done, we know we’re going to live with it for a long time and we’re opting to add color with rugs, wall hangings and other decor. Mostly, I want to start hanging some of my photographs (once I have them printed) and neutral wall colors are much easier to work with, so a photo, regardless of the colors in it, doesn’t look out of place in a room.
The first surprise was his recommendation that we go with flat paint (not satin). I know it looks better and if you’ve got kids running around, it does scuff more easily, but apparently it’s a snap to ‘repair’ should you get a major scuff, unlike satin and semi-gloss, which are almost impossible to patch up. The bathrooms and kitchen will be done in a semi-gloss.
So the work that’s being done will take a crew of six guys, working 12 hours a day, for three days. They’re going to patch any and all holes, match the wall texture and give it the works. Even better, the painter is still hitting the original estimate he gave us.
We’re under the 2-week mark until closing and really starting to get excited.
