We officially began the process of moving today. By 7:30am I was at the new home with an SUV full of more fragile items to drop off in the garage. Then it was off to U-Haul to pick up the truck and by 9am I was back home. By 10am I had the washer & dryer loaded, the patio furniture, grill, and a variety of other things.
Steve came over to help at the new home. We unloaded the U-Haul and assembled the patio furniture and grill. Not long after we were done, Donna showed up with lunch and we got to put our new table & chairs to good use.
Oddly enough, it took about twice as long to put the grill together as it did the table and chairs, but it’s all together and ready to go.
The painters are still busy working on the home, so really all we could do was outdoor work. Pretty much all of the window screens were in bad shape, including the two sliding screen doors on the 8′ tall sliding glass doors. Before the day was over, we had replaced the screens on all the windows and doors, and while it was time consuming, it wasn’t difficult at all.
One other annoying thing was that the gate in the fence didn’t open or close very easily. Turns out, the 4×4 support beam that the gate hinged on was rotted, so I pulled it out, dug an 18″ hole, then we put a new beam in anchored with concrete. As you can see, it isn’t painted yet but I already picked up the paint at Home Depot and will get it done probably on Monday.
Needless to say it was a very productive day but as I sit here writing this, I’m exhausted and the muscles are aching so badly, I have not idea how I’m going to get through another day of lifting heavy stuff.

One response to “MOVING DAY: PART I”
Wow! You really got a lot done yesterday! Hope your muscles are feeling better today.
Hadn’t noticed before, I really like the two-tone stucco on the outside of your new home!
Good luck with the rest of your move!
