Buddy’s big day at the beach

After our morning ride we decided the head to the Ventura Pier – we haven’t been up that way in ages it seems. Bringing Buddy along for the ride seemed like a great idea and for the first time, he really seemed to take to the ocean. We found a great spot where the surf wasn’t too intimidating and he seemed to love it.

Hangin’ (oh so happily) with the woman of my dreams!

The area we found for Buddy was almost just a big tide pool, but the occasional wave did come through. He still doesn’t seem the like it when waves come at him. He also learned that saltwater doesn’t taste nearly as good as fresh water.

Despite the morning clouds, the afternoon was picture perfect. Deep blue skies, a cool breeze and tons of stuff to sniff – though I felt kind’a bad when Buddy lifted his leg to a homeless person’s blanket.

Buddy met a new friend while at the beach. They both seemed to have the exact same approach to playing.

A little chill time in the shade seemed to help Buddy. I think the experience as a whole (there was a beach festival going on) was a touch nerve-racking for Buddy, but I think it’s good that he get used to different types of situations.

Standing 6’2″ makes it tough to get my photo with the little guy – just picking him up seems to be the best approach. I had to crop Donna’s thumb out of this photo and sharpen it like crazy since it was out of focus.
