We tackled a beast on Sunday. It’s been ages since we’ve rode Sulfur Mountain Road. We used to ride it all the time and not think much of it, but times have changed. Sulfur Mountain Road is a 9-mile dirt road that climbs 2,272 vertical feet. On the way up, there are only three spots, each less than 1/8 mile, to recover a little. Of course the way down makes for a lot of coasting.
According to the fitness tracker I was using, I burned 1,600 calories on the climb, but only 300 on the way down.
