We had an interesting scenario today.
A reporter shot a video clip related to a story she wrote today. She asked what we could do with the video, acknowledging it was a relatively short clip. (Don’t get me started on the fact that it was a vertical video.)
Do we want to subject readers to 15 seconds of pre-roll video advertising, just to watch a 15 second video? Of course not. The solution? Tweet the video and embed the tweet in the story as a smart embed. Plus, the tweet can be retweeted by @vcstar with a link to the story.
So here’s how it ended up going.
The reporter tweeted the video, with the intent of the tweet text serving as a ‘caption’ of sorts.

Then she embedded her tweet in her story.

Once the story was live, @vcstar retweeted her tweet with a link to the story.

In short, we repurposed one video clip three different times, and it worked great!
The key of course was communication. She spoke up, raised the issue, and we reached a solution together.
