SUNDAY, AND THE PARIS-ROUBAIX

Sunday marked the 109th racing of the Paris-Roubaix, probably our favorite road race where the pros cover mile after mile of rough, dangerous cobble-stone streets. They call it “pave”, but whatever. They are given some relief with a lot of paved roads as well but I think the whole race is something like 160 miles (which they cover in roughly 6 hours!) Anyway, we decided our ride should resemble the race to some extent so we did a mix of paved roads and rough, dirt roads. Of course our ride was about 120 miles shorter than the actual race. We started the day by watching a 1960’s Paris-Roubaix, went for our own ride, then headed to Bruce and Julie’s house for this year’s race.
