Surprisingly, Buddy seems to prefer something a little different when it comes to carpeting a room. I agreed to one of the choices on the left (below), under the condition that I never had to walk him ever again. After some pondering, he opted against the artificial turf and continue with the daily walks.
Immediately after throwing down a few samples, Buddy wanted to see what kind of damage he could do with his claws. Turns out he can leave quite an impression – as you can see in the photo below. Ultimately, he decided on the same carpet Donna and I favored for the master bedroom.
He also had no problems picking out a favorite for the office/guest room.

I also think Buddy was probably a little self-serving in picking that color for the Master bedroom, as he will blend in much better & thus harder to find when he is in trouble:-)
